Riviera Maya offers tropical and beautiful weather and, from February to May we enjoy sunny days, steady wind and occasional rains, even if it’s “dry season”.
Water Temperature: warm water with an average of 79F.
Air Temperature: 80 to 86 F and stays warm, day and night.
Wetsuits: Not necessary. Only a rash guard needed.

Known for local cenote dives and The Sian Kaán Reserve, Tulum has a unique variety of dive sites to enjoy alongside it´s famous Mayan Pyramids.
In Tulum we work with a local Diving Shop that provides all the Diving services, from PADI Beginners Courses to advance Ocean, Cenote and Cave Diving.
The IKO is the International Kiteboarding Organization, an independent and global organization dedicated to developing and promoting safe kiteboarding worldwide; funded in November 2001.
IKO provides a professional level of teaching standards, recognized and applied worldwide and updated all the time regarding the development and new technologies on the equipment and teaching methods.
There are different levels for a Kitesurf Instructor and all the Kite Sisters Instructors are IKO Certified with the highest Instructor levels: IKO Level 2 Senior. Getting to this qualification requires thousands of teaching hours in different conditions, so you will be in good hands!
At the end of every Kiteboarding Trip you will receive your own IKO Certification Card; with an worldwide validation and that will specify your current level.
The process of learning Kiteboarding is going to depend on each particular person. Generally, a Kiteboarding course takes from 12 to 20 hours, that is recommended to split in different days, in order to get a gradual and solid progression and the necessary rest and recovery between each step of the learning.
Having experience in other sports, such as windsurfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, surfing, and skating, can really help in the learning, but is not completely significant. It’s possible that you have never done an action or related sport, and your Kitesurfing progress is fast and solid.
This is mainly a technical sport, so if you dedicate the proper time, learn with a certified instructor and enjoy the process, you will become a Kiteboarder faster than you think!
Video Coaching is an incredibly effective tool that has been being used during the last 20 years in the Surf Industry for high performance training.
Our Head Instructor, certified IKO Kiteboarding Instructor and ISA Surf Coach, has adapted this surf training technique to Kiteboarding and to the Advance Coaching lessons for our Independent riders (those girls that assist to our camps that already have an advanced riding level).
The Video Coaching enables us to show you exactly what you look like and what you need to do. It brings in line what you think you are doing, with what you are actually doing. Our Kitesurf Coach will film your kiteboarding session so that after you can together analyze the video and find all the mistakes and everything that you need to work regarding technique, attitude, body and kite position to improve and push your riding to the next level.
There are many reason that makes learning Kiteboarding in one of our Kitesurf Trips a good decision:
- All about kiteboarding. You will completely submerge during one week in the kitesurfing world. Our Kiteboarding Trips are focused on the sport, so you will learn kiteboarding not only during your kite lesson, but also helping, assisting and talking with other sisters about kites, experiences, tips, spots. We organize daily Theory lessons, safety clinics and talk about gear, security, spots, hazards and you need to know to become an independent and safe kiteboarder.
- Experience. Our Team has more than 6 years teaching, traveling and coaching kitesurfing. All our instructors are certified in all the disciplines that are taught during our Camps: IKO Instructors, ISA Coaches and Yoga Teachers. We have taught and ridden in all kinds of kitesurfing spots and conditions, from light wind and big kites to strong conditions with 3 meters kites and waves.
- Competition free and non-pressure environment. We will help you throughout the learning curve with confidence and security; even if you are beginner, intermediate or advanced, we will teach you, push you and help you adapt to your skills, background, abilities and difficulties. Every person is different so we will adapt every teaching to your best way of learning.

Toni Krall. 60. CA, United States. Kite Camp Tulum 2018. I just returned from the Kite Sisters kiteboarding camp in Tulum, Mexico. From the first day to the last, it was a wonderful experience! The kiting spot is beautiful and warm and offers conditions for all levels of kiters. The kite instructors are all very respectful and encouraging. They do a wonderful job of taking the time to help you navigate a new riding spot and conditions. I always felt that their priority was my safety and to encourage me to have a great time on the water. Chelu helped me reach my goal of toe-side riding in both directions and gave me great feedback and suggestions to really improve my overall riding technique. Thank you Octavio for shooting the video and photos that helped me tremendously! I feel completely renewed and inspired! The Kite Sisters house is located in a very quiet, secure, location within walking distance to a crystal clear cenote. It’s unbelievable the first time you see one! The beach is just steps across the small road in front of the house. The swimming pool in the backyard was a big surprise and the upper deck was a favorite spot to hang out. There are several chaise lounge chairs and hammocks with a great view of the water. I especially enjoyed Chelu’s yoga classes on the beach and the opportunity to stretch and ground myself before and after the kiting sessions. The planned activities around kiteboarding were a great opportunity to experience the beauty and history of the area. The in-house chef and his assistants prepared beautiful, healthy, breakfasts, lunches and dinners for us. They are very eager to please and you will definitely eat well! I really enjoyed getting to know each of the other Kite Sisters. It was great to be with other women kiters and share our experiences on and off the water, offer ideas/suggestions and support each other. The entire trip was beyond my expectations and look forward to booking my next adventure with Chelu, Octavio and the Kite Sisters Crew.
Gill Shiau. Canada. Kite Camp Tulum 2017. Just returned from a Kite Sisters camp in Tulum, Mexico. This trip was 6 years in the making, and I’m thrilled that I finally got the time (and nerve!) to go. While I signed up for the trip primarily with the goal of learning how to kite surf, I came away with something even better – new “sisters” from across the globe who shared the challenges and triumphs in the course of a week of sun and fun where we all became better kite surfers and people. In addition to amazingly beautiful accommodations in a gorgeous place, delicious meals prepared by an awesomely talented chef, revitalizing yoga sessions where you could hear the ocean and see exotic birds flying overhead, and excellent top-notch instruction (and my previous instructor competed on the Kite Surf Pro World Tour, so that’s saying something!), the true value I gained from this trip was the camaraderie with girls who encouraged me to do and be my best while in Mexico and beyond. We have stayed in touch, and it’s great that the encouragement and support continues. Hearing about the changes we are each making in our lives – re-prioritizing things in our careers to focus on the tasks that really matter and enrich our lives, taking chances we wouldn’t have previously contemplated, and getting involved in pursuits that we didn’t even dream of before should illustrate for anybody interested in going on one of these trips that the value of such a trip can’t be measured in dollars. This was one of the most enriching experiences of my adult life, and I’m so very grateful to Chelu, Octavio, coaches Mink and Roberto, chef Juan, and Martin, for the privilege of being part of one of their camps. I highly recommend a Kite Sisters camp without hesitation, and I cannot wait to go on my next one! Looking forward to meeting more sisters!

I was pleasantly surprised with the care and detail Chelu and Octavio put into each camp. I never had to worry about anything! We were taken care of so we could focus on connecting with the girls and kiteboarding while also enjoying a vacation. I learned so much and would recommend a camp like this if you are interested in the sport.
